OUR STORY

La Maison de l'Alpaga is a brand of clothing and accessories made from alpaca wool. Our products are 100% handmade and made entirely in Peru. La Maison de l'Alpaga was created after a long trip to Peru in 1999. Initially under a different name, the brand was renamed La Maison de l'Alpaga in 2018. Alpaca wool is at the heart of our brand. For more than 15 years, our missions have remained the same, because they are the very DNA of the brand: to offer unique products made from high-quality alpaca wool, to guarantee fair trade with fair remuneration for the artisans and, finally, to guarantee respect for the alpacas. Thanks to the experience and values upheld by the brand and its founder, the aim is to grow and make a name for ourselves through our new e-commerce site, so that we can continue to guarantee work to the local artisans without whom La Maison de l'Alpaga (LMA) would not exist.

ALPACA WOOL

If you're looking for something cosy and stylish, consider alpaca wool. This luxurious material is known for its warmth, softness and durability, making it a popular choice for winter clothing.  Alpaca wool comes from the fleece of the alpaca, a South American animal related to the llama. Alpaca wool is known for its softness, warmth and durability. Unlike sheep's wool, alpaca wool is hypoallergenic and does not contain lanolin, which can cause skin irritations in some people. One of the greatest advantages of alpaca wool is its warmth and insulation. Another advantage of alpaca wool is its softness and comfort. Not only is alpaca wool luxurious and comfortable, it is also incredibly durable and hardwearing. Alpaca wool fibres are stronger and more resistant than traditional sheep's wool, which means that alpaca wool garments will last longer and stand up better over time.

ETHICAL AND RESPONSIBLE FASHION

Choosing alpaca wool is making a sustainable and ethical choice that is not only better for the environment, but also supports fair labour practices and animal welfare. Alpaca wool is a renewable resource that requires minimal resources to produce, making it a more sustainable alternative to traditional wool. By choosing sustainable and ethical alpaca wool, you can have a positive impact on the fashion industry and the world around us. La Maison de l'Alpaga is committed to sustainability and ethical practices in a number of ways. We source our alpaca wool from small Peruvian farmers who practice sustainable farming methods and care for the welfare of their animals. The wool is then processed using environmentally-friendly methods that minimise waste and reduce the use of harmful chemicals. We also make every effort to pay fair wages to our local artisans. By choosing La Maison de l'Alpaga and alpaca wool, you can feel good about what you wear and support a brand that values sustainability and ethical practices.
